First Contact

(no not the Star Trek movie)
My profile has now been active on the websites for a week. Without trying too hard, I have had a reasonable amount of contact, if somewhat mixed. I decided that if I am to try to simulate what a single bloke would come across while trying something like this, I should put myself out there a little more – try to encourage a little contact. So I spent the last couple of nights sending out “Kisses”, “Virtual Kisses” and whatever each site chooses to call their “free contact” option. This is a means of getting in touch with someone where you only have limited responses for contact. It’s automated and you get to choose from a preset list of answers so that you can’t include any details like your phone number or address. It means that contact is limited to within the site, so that if you really want to get in touch with someone, you will have to subscribe to their service. That’s fine, I’m already a member. What the purpose of my “kiss” sending entailed was basically fishing for anyone who may be interested in my profile. Because sending emails costs credits, this is a good way to go about it. If they’re interested, they’ll send a positive response kiss. If they’re not, the response can either be negative or non-existent. That’s fine, because at least you know. You can then go about contacting the positives. It also means that you can suss the site out for potential before you start shelling out cash for contact. Then you can start really contacting people – or so it seems.
I had sent out a literal barrage of “kisses” to women I thought actually seemed like the type I would like to go out with. And I had received some good responses. A couple of “thanks but no thanks”, a couple of “just plain not interesteds”, but also a few “please tell me mores”. Now, because I am a member, I can start emailing with more info – asking a few questions, finding out some nitty-gritty details. The good stuff, perhaps. I must say that I have been pretty happy with the results so far, even though it has only been rather limited. I am sending out the emails to the “please tell me mores” tonight, so we will have some answers in the next few days and then we can let the dating begin! And that’s about the time when this should all start to come good.
