Flood in Australia: Media Exhausting Biblical References

Natural disasters continue to ravage countries all around the world as a woman drowned after trying to cross a flooded causeway in Australia to become the first casualty of a storm said to be of "biblical proportions." Northeaster Australia was hammered by constant rain storms last week that has effected over 200,000 people. The end of the rain has not quelled the rising rivers and overflowing low-lying communities. Flooding was so bad that two cars were swallowed by a river trying to cross a roadway on Saturday night. Casualties haven't been too severe thankfully but there has nonetheless been much damage and displaced people left in the wake of this storm.
According to Assistant Police Commissioner Alistair Dawson, about 1,000 people were living in evacuation centers across the state, and it may be a month before floodwaters dry up. Officials estimate that flood damage in Queendale alone could cost up to a billion dollars. To make matters worse, they are expecting another severe thunderstorm today bringing harsh winds and hail. As the water continues rushing toward the ocean, the city of Rockhampton, near the coast, is next on the war path and are expecting flood levels to peak Wednesday. Officials have been evacuating Rockhampton residents for days, and some were still being moved on Sunday. Mayor Brad Carter warned about 40 percent of the city could be affected by the surging waters, and residents could be forced to wait at least two weeks before returning home. Not everyone finds the prospect of allusions to God's wrath too pressing. With water lapping at the steps of one Rockhampton pub, one of the owners had no plans to close down. I'm assuming he's insured and/or atheist.
