Glee vs Kings of Leon

It all started when the openly gay Glee creator Ryan Murphy talked to the Hollywood Report about Kings of Leon not allowing Glee to cover their songs:
"F--- you, Kings of Leon," Murphy said: "They're self-centered a**holes, and they missed the big picture. They missed that a 7-year-old kid can see someone close to their age singing a Kings of Leon song, which will maybe make them want to join a glee club or pick up a musical instrument. It's like, OK, hate on arts education. You can make fun of Glee all you want, but at its heart, what we really do is turn kids on to music."
Well, that's a pretty big leap. Funny, I took Kings of Leon's refusal to allow their songs to be covered as saying "I don't want you to cover our songs." So what Murphy's implying is that by not supporting Glee and allowing them to use your music, you're an insidious prick that thinks music in schools should die? Man talk about self-centered. This guy is delusional. Well Kings of Leon drummer Nick Followill didn't take kindly to that rant.
His response replied via twitter: "Dear Ryan Murphy, let it go. See a therapist, get a manicure, buy a new bra. Zip your lip and focus on educating 7yr olds how to say f**k."
After a predictable uproar, Followhill later tweeted: "I'm sorry 4 anyone that misconstrued my comments as homophobic or misogynistic. I'm so not that kind of person. I really do apologize."
Come on. Are we so coddled as a nation that this counts as a homophobic rant? I was expecting Mel Gibson, not EVERY NORMAL PERSON. If somebody is throwing a tantrum like a sissy, they should get called on it regardless of their orientation or gender. There was not one slur tossed around, only female activities heaped onto a man. The equivalent of a guy telling another guy who's being a wuss to remove the tampon. He shouldn't have apologized and I'm glad he didn't delete the post. Murphy should apologize for acting like the 7 year old he referenced.
