Looks Good, Feels Good, Is Good

I have a simple rule - when you look good, you feel good. You will exude more confidence when you leave the house looking, smelling and feeling good than when you fall out of bed into your trackies and grunge your way out into life.
There is no way out of spending money on clothes. You need them, to cover your nudity of which (if the church has taught me anything) you should be ashamed. Clothes are like everything else in life - you have to have them, so why not have good ones? The truth of the matter is that clothes you spend a little more on will last you longer, and look better from the start. Cheap doesn't last as long, it doesn't recover from washing very well and it doesn’t sit well on your body. There is no way of escaping the fact that Cheap Looks Cheap.
I’m not suggesting that you throw all your clothes out and start again. But next time you are forced to go clothes shopping, no matter how much you hate it, think about it a little. Take stock of who you are and the image you want to project. Throw out your old shirts - just get rid of them. Give them to the Salvos, just get them out of your closet and get rid of the temptation to leave them in the rotation. We need to understand that modern women aren’t going to put up with slobby looking blokes any more. There’s no excuse for it. Shopping centres can be scary – sure, if you have a fear of open spaces full of young and attractive women. Go into your local shopping centre - most of the men’s clothing shops will be near each other. They will range in budgets but most of their styles will be similar in a way. If you know in yourself that you are not sure of what looks good on you, then don’t be afraid to take your mate. Or take your sister. Even better, take your mates sister. Take someone who will be honest with you and tell you, more importantly, what doesn't look good on you.
The view that by putting in a little effort somehow makes you less of a man is outdated. How can it be true if you are trying to look good to help you meet women? It’s an outdated bogan view that I’m not sure was ever relevant. I’m not saying you should chuck out all your clothes and go and start all over again, but next time you need to go shopping, think about the woman you want to meet. Should she be prepared to put in a bit of effort for you? Bloody Oath she should! So why shouldn’t she be able to expect the same in return? Blokes have it good – not much has changed since the fifties, (Okay, a lot has changed, but thankfully it has changed back) so we can get away with wearing jeans, a t-shirt and a decent pair of shoes for a night out. We don’t have to update our wardrobes constantly. We don’t have to constantly style our hair. Looking half decent is the easiest thing in the world, so why aren’t we doing it? You can kit yourself out with a stylish pair of jeans for anything between $40 & $200. Three or four stylish shirts and t-shirts won’t cost you any more than $100. Shoes might cost you more, but the better shoe you buy, the longer they will last you. And unless you’re the Chapel St type, a decent haircut won’t cost you any more than about $30. I’m not saying you should turn into Carson Bloody Daly or max out your credit card but it doesn't hurt to have a little bit of a clue when it comes to knowing what you look good in. As we all know, when you look good you feel good and when you feel good you are more likely to have that confidence you need to go up and finally talk to that great bird you see every week at the pub, and that can’t be a bad thing.

Theres a lot of talk that we follow everything AMerica does, but with fashion, I strongly disagree. Maybe its because Americans are sooo poorly dressed as a nation (jeans & runners just looks awful) that its one way in which we rebel?
