So I started this whole experiment just to find out how successful dating sites are. I can confirm that yes, they are successful. They work...or at least they do in my case.
I have a number of friends, both male and female who have accounts on various dating sites, and they have had varying degrees of success, so it seems that my 100% strike rate (1 date, 1 success) is a bit of an anomoly. Really, I think it is.
One female friend goes out on dates almost every week and she is certain that even the nice ones, the ones that "want" to go out on a few dates before they inevitably end up having sex are still actually only after sex.
Of my male friends on the sites, I can tell you that that is not what they tell me, but Im a guy, I know it could be true. From my point of view, I dont think I would be bothered going out with someone for five or six dates before getting sex...it just seems too much work if all I was after was sex. I would assume that the average number of dates before the next step (and Im talking about Australian Adults here, not American Sit-Com Teenagers) would be three-four dates? Maybe a kiss after the first date if all went well, a decent kiss or a bit of a passion session in the car after the second and then, if you can hold off, the sex happens after the third date...or the fourth if you like to spend forever getting to know someone before jumping in the sack. Am I wrong? This is the pattern that I have followed in the past so I know how it normally works for me, but is that quick?
Either way, the point is that if I was just looking for sex, why would I spend all this time and effort (and Money) going through a Dating site when there are actual "Im just looking for sex" sites out there? Do those sites not work?
