Obama Should Change so that I can Believe in Him

August 22nd 2009 14:46
President Obama, needless to say is a breath of fresh air after nearly drowning and then waking up next to a pile of Cow feces. How a Cow got near a body of water is beside the point. Unfortunately, the new commander in chief has not been living up to my expectations of real change. There are numerous instances that I'll probably address at some point, but what I want to get at is one main issue that should be our biggest concern....The environment. Now unless you are one of the special bunch that think Global Warming is a myth and that the Earth is 2000 years old, you should be concerned as well. At this point, its irreversible... However if we make changes, then our children will have a planet to live on. Assuming we don't kill ourselves with Nuclear warfare before then of course.

Now recently I noticed that President Obama has taken up Golf. Why? I don't know. Perhaps he's been hearing the "too black" murmurs again, and needs to make everyone comfortable. That wouldn't be the first time a Democrat made changes to his image when attacked. (See Al Gore overcompensating when Bush attacked his morals in 2000) We've also been treated to the sight of our President eating hamburgers with increased frequency. What does Golf and Hamburgers have to do with the environment you ask?

Worldwide, we are facing a water shortage. Some countries don't have clean water to drink, much less shower. (There will be no French jokes in this blog) No water, needless to say would be a massive problem. Droughts are devastating for the health of people, animals, and of crops, which further would be problematic . So let's take a quick stroll to Texas. (I promise we won't stay long) In San Antonio, there is an annual drought during the summer months. Is there not enough water to go around? Of course not. If you examine the Golf Course, 1 round of Gulf consumes 3400 to 5400 gallons of water. As of 2000, there were 56 courses in San Antonio and the surrounding Hills country. 6.4 Billion gallons of water a year were required to water the grass on all these fields.

Considering there are places where its not even safe to drink water, I find that statistic appalling and I'm quite disappointed that our President has not even mentioned it. As for Hamburgers, all you pseudo environmentalists better be Vegan because our consumption of meat causes more damage to the atmosphere than cars and planes combined. You can recycle, drive a Prius, or smugly spout rhetoric from an Inconvenient Truth all you want. If you eat meat, that Vegan driving the hummer is better than you. Not eating meat would even benefit this healthcare crisis, which i won't get into too much here. I will however, point out that President Obama's unwillingness to get Americans to stop being fat slobs is not going to solve anything. Reforming healthcare is fine, but people wouldn't be so sick if they weren't stuffing their faces with cheeseburgers and if schools weren't cutting gym class. People need to make sacrifices if they want change.

President Obama cannot continue to delude people into thinking that they can keep doing what they've been doing and get different results.

That is insanity.

So please Mr. President. Use your charm and superhuman communication skills to get the American people to come together around a real cause so that we may build a better country. It starts with you though. No more throwing issues ahead of this. No more tip toeing on this with conservative approaches such as Cap and Trade. We need big radical changes, or health care, the economy, won't even matter. After all, Terrorism is pretty small, when you sit it next to the end of humanity.
