Poison Shrek Drinking Glasses Recalled from McDonald's

Just when you thought it was safe to feed your child obesity enabling fast food, now you must worry about them being poisoned. Well a different poison, specifically Cadmium. Cadmium is commonly used in batteries, but has other uses, such as going into the paint of children's promotional drinking glasses. The only effected glasses (that we know of) were the $2 items used to promote Shrek Forever After. 12 million glasses had to be recalled. McDonald's claimed the US-made glasses (red flag) met federal guidelines for cadmium under testing conducted by a CPSC-approved lab. CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission)spokesman Scott Wolfson, denied this, alleging the glasses fell short of standards for the toxic metal that the agency was in the process of developing.
Ok, so that means they immediately prevented the distribution...wait, what? Can I get some clarification?
"We believe the Shrek glassware is safe for consumer use. However, again to ensure that our customers receive safe products from us, we made the decision to stop selling them and voluntarily recall these products effective immediately."-McDonald's USA spokesman Bill Whitman.
Okay you're not even trying. I think what they meant to say is upon discovering this children's product was tainted with a dangerous toxic that's been linked to brain damage and cancer, their response was:
One would assume the logical solution is to better regulate these companies so as to prevent them from stuffing us with Cadmium. Well the CPSC came to the conclusion that the best course of action is allowing the corporations to police themselves on this. The equivalent of trusting a thief to watch the cash register while you pee. The urine in this analogy is falling directly on American citizens. (Consistent with trickledown economics) CPSC's reasoning for this bafflingly idiotic decision:
"It has been determined that the glasses are not children's products. The size, weight, packaging, and price of the glasses sampled by the CPSC are consistent with glasses more commonly used for consumption of adult glasses."
Do they think 40 is the new toddler? Maybe it's customary for YOUR company to sip soda with a bendy straw out of a cartoon branded glass, but for the rest of the population, such drinking materials are reserved for 10 year olds.
Cadmium is a carcinogen also linked to kidney damage and bone softening, but that isn't the real danger here. Corporations show time, and time again they have no regard for human life. It is a side effect of human behavior mixed with capitalism. Profit comes first, self-interest second. But we don't even have competent government agencies to stop them. The answer isn't limited government, that means these soulless bloodsuckers would have even more free reign. Nor massive government, as that is far too much stupidity and corruption. We need smart government. Tight regulation, intelligent, ethical employees, and total transparency to insure everything is as it should be. Otherwise we’ll be spiraling toward the status of 3rd world country.

On that same note, it may be that profiling is in the future. Some people get up in arms about that, however, it is a fact that EVERY terrorist that has attacked through the air-travel system has been male. Likewise, every one has been between the ages of 18 and 50. None have been dressed as nuns, old women, or toddlers. Leave off the racial aspect. Leave off the name. Profile based on age and sex alone. When you do that, then the only problem is a long, porous border. Take the National Guard and station them there. Further, penalize EVERY agency that has even ONE person that is not legally elligible to work in the USA. If they have someone working there that is not legally able to work in the USA, force them to pay a $25,000 fine and purchase an airline ticket for those working for them with verifiable proof
that the person boarded the plane.
Anyway, I digress. Sorry.
Again, great post.
