“Policemen so cherish their status as keepers of the peace and protectors of the public that they have occasionally been known to beat to death those citizens or groups who question that status."-David Mamet
Police brutality is alive and well. Naimah Jones was approached at night while in a car full of children by a plain clothes policemen who did not identify himself. He didn't do so until he started choking her, and then backup came just to tase this woman multiple times. Plain clothes officers should not be lurking around harassing women, they should be undercover trying to actually catch criminals. Plus unless a woman has a weapon, that much force is totally unnecessary. Police are out of control, particularly in the African American community. The reason this abuse of power continues is because every time officers get busted, their punishment is a paid vacation and then the media drops the story. Like the Sean Bell case when police fired upon him 50 times outside of a strip club where he was holding his bachelor party. If the law can protect them from crime then perhaps citizens need to stand up and show them they aren't willing to be stepped on any longer. People are already being screwed by politicians and bankers, they don't need corrupt and violent cops on top of it.
