Tuscon Shooting the Tip of the Iceberg

A critically wounded congresswoman, dead civilians. Just more casualties in a stunningly massive list of atrocities that have occurred in this nation. Acts of terrorism, though Hilary Clinton didn't want to use that word since it breaks away from the scheme to make you think Muslim when terror and ism are combined. But that's what it was. Terrorism. There has been much of it in this nation. From the time the Spaniards and the pilgrims murdered and terrorized the native Americans, to Plymouth rock landing on Africans, through Jim Crow, the Salem witch trials, Hiroshima, segregation, the assassinations of JFK, Malcolm X, Martin Luther King Jr, the F.B.I taking out the Black Panther Party, Bobby Kennedy, the Oklahoma city bombing, Columbine, Virginia Tech. This is a sick culture.

It starts with a belief. A dangerous and irrational one. That belief is fed to the masses through politicians and the media. When it filters to the crazies, that's when tragedy strikes. There has been troublingly violent undertones ever since it became apparent that the white house was getting darker. Nobody saw a problem. When it was Obama's life at stake, there wasn't objection to guns at the rallies, or the fear machine trying to make it seem as if an Orwellian tyrant with every dangerous ethnic stereotype attached to him had taken over the office. Since becoming president, this "grass roots" organization of basically angry white people have been given a platform to spout their violent lunacy, and have subsequently been egged on by the opportunistic republican party. The media, like clockwork, encouraged all this madness. The talk of "second amendment remedies" and "reloading." The Muslim terrorist talk, all while progress in this country ground to a halt. They say it’s not the time to point fingers, but that is a lie. There is so much blame to go around, it’d be a shame not to do so. Well that’s what I’m here for…

As Malcolm X once said when JFK was killed, "The chickens have come home to roost." There is a lot of anger in this country, and not just because there is a black guy in office. The system is broken, and while most people don't know the cause because journalism is in a similar state of disarray, they know something isn't right. That wouldn't be much of a problem, if guns weren't involved. You see in America, ANYBODY can get a gun . So rather than punching a pillow or getting a stress ball, you can just lock and load. The shooter easily got a gun despite his reported case of mental illness and you saw what happened. Glad to see we learned so much from the last mentally ill gunmen that went on a rampage. Speaking of which, I remember there was a news piece on one of the VA tech survivors. He was making a documentary on guns in America. He went to this gun show and you literally only needed cash to walk out with whatever kind of gun you wanted, because when you're buying from somebody’s collection, things like background checks don't apply.

We need and have always needed far better gun control and we shouldn't let hillbillies or those NRA lobbyists tell us any different. But we need to fix the climate. Our political discourse shouldn't be between spineless, paid off old guys and crazy, ignorant, paid off old guys. We need industry back, we need wall street, health care, and utility companies to stop being allowed to screw over people. We need a competent media. It shouldn't take a tragedy to get the ball rolling, but if that's what it takes, then so be it. We're here now, and we must not let this opportunity slip away.
